DAW Lessons in Los Angeles: Ableton, FL Studio, Logic Pro, Pro Tools, and Reaper
I teach private, one-on-one lessons in Ableton Live, FL Studio, Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Reaper, and GarageBand. Lessons happen in person at my studio in Los Angeles, near Fairfax and Melrose next to West Hollywood, or live online over Zoom anywhere in the US. They are $40 for 30 minutes or $60 for an hour, and the $20 intro can be in person too.
$20 for 30 min, credited toward your first month · in person in LA or online
Do you teach Ableton Live lessons?
Yes. Ableton is my main DAW, and my studio runs Ableton Live Suite. We cover Session and Arrangement views, drum programming, sampling and warping, synths and effects, and turning loops into finished songs. More on Ableton lessons in Los Angeles.
Do you teach FL Studio lessons in Los Angeles?
Yes. We work in the channel rack, piano roll, playlist, and mixer: programming drums, writing melodies and 808s, and building patterns into a full arrangement. It's a good fit if you make beats.
Do you teach Logic Pro lessons?
Yes. Logic lessons cover recording vocals and instruments, MIDI and software instruments, arranging, and rough mixing on a Mac. Songwriters often use it to demo their own songs. See Logic Pro lessons for beginners.
Do you teach Pro Tools lessons?
Yes. Pro Tools lessons focus on recording, editing, comping takes, and keeping sessions organized, the workflow many commercial studios use.
Do you teach Reaper lessons?
Yes. Reaper is affordable and very flexible, so lessons focus on a simple workflow for recording, MIDI, routing, and mixing that doesn't get in your way.
Can I start with GarageBand?
Yes. GarageBand is a free starting point on Mac and iPhone, and what you learn carries over to Logic Pro.
Which DAW should I learn?
Usually the one you already have. Most production skills carry across DAWs, so we focus on making music, not switching software. If you're starting from zero, we'll pick one based on your computer, budget, and the music you want to make. See Ableton vs. Logic for beginners.
Are lessons in person or online?
In person first: lessons happen at my studio in Los Angeles, near Fairfax and Melrose next to West Hollywood, and the $20 intro can be in person too. Just tell me when you book. If you're not in LA, the same lessons run live over Zoom with screen sharing anywhere in the US.
Who this is for
Beat makers, songwriters, recording artists, and producers who know what they want to make but get stuck in the software, plus total beginners choosing their first DAW.
What we work on
Your DAW's core workflow, recording, MIDI and drum programming, arrangement, editing, rough mixing, and exporting, taught on the project you are actually making.
Why a teacher instead of tutorials
Tutorials show one workflow on someone else's song. In a lesson I can see exactly where your session is stuck, fix it with you, and leave you with one clear next step.
- Start with music you can hear and use
- Build technique around the goal
- Leave each lesson with a clear next step
- Use the intro lesson to choose the right path
Choose the path that matches your goal.
